April 30, 2011

Brothers, Sisters and Friends:

Today was a very busy day. We began the day with the quarterly Grand Exalted Degree meeting. Following this meeting we had our quarterly Grand Shrine meeting, both were in Jersey City.

Afterward I traveled to Newark to attend the Martin Luther King Grand Youth Court meeting.

In all it was a good day, albeit a busy one.

Southern Dist Conv

On April 23, 2011 we attended the Southern District Convention comprising of Districts No. 8 and 10.

This was the final District Convention of our Masonic year. The convention was very impressive. The Deputy Grand Master stated that he believed the District Grand Lodge meeting was the best meeting of the year.

In the City Council meeting, the City Council President Sis Monk gave an impressive Annual Report.

During the District Grand Lodge communication Deputy District Master Bro. Troy Cain performed an exceptional Memorial Ceremony. Several lectures were given.

The District Convention definitely capped of a great series district conventions.

On this evening I made an official visit at Alpha and Omega No. 42.

During the communication they reminded me on several occasions that the District No. 3 were the defending Youth Basketball Champions, that they are the defending Lodge of the Year in the Tier C category, etc.

During the communication, the lodge performed a Burial Ceremony for 2000 points in the Award Program Contest.

As always I had a good time seeing the brothers of Alpha and Omega No. 42.

The only downside was that I didn't see a particular brother who will remain nameless. Knowing I was coming, he went into hiding because the Pittsburgh Steelers lost in the Superbowl. But we still love him. LOL

Brothers, Sisters and Friends:

This weekend I attended the A1 District No. 1 and District No. 4 Convention.

The convention was very high spirited as we laughed in between every report.

During the District Grand Lodge Brothers Barr and Cleveland gave lecturers.

In all we had a good District Convention.

Brothers, Sisters and Friends:

On this morning I attended the Annual King Solomon and Queen of the South's Annual Workshop. We heard presentation by Brothers, Boyd, Hearns, Morgan and Jackson. They covered the various topics of King Solomon, the camel, the palm tree, etc.

But the presentation that stole the show was done by Bro. Hillman, the Grand Lodge Lecturer. Bro. Hillman set the tone for the workshop.

In addition, I was scheduled to make my official visit to Prince of Peace No. 156 that evening. Unfortunately I was under the weather and did not attend. My apologizes to the brothers of Prince of Peace. Hopefully next month we can reschedule this visit.
